The History of Coworking Rive-Sud
From a young age, Ian-Patrick Thibault has been passionate about human capital development. His career in managerial and sales roles quickly taught him the importance of exchanges and interactions in personal and professional development. Convinced that each exchange is a source of value and accelerated learning, he developed a deep interest in mutual aid communities.
This reflection took a decisive turn during a MOOC on Effectuation (Emlyon), where a discussion with his study group inspired the idea for his first business model. As he delved deeper into his research, Ian-Patrick discovered the concept of coworking, an innovative approach combining community building and human potential development.
In 2014, Ian-Patrick launched one of the first coworking spaces in Quebec in a Boucherville café. He was one of the pioneers of coworking in Quebec. Success was rapid: a year later, Coworking Rive-Sud had 8 members in a 1,000 sq ft space. In 2018, the space moved to Longueuil to larger 2,800 sq ft offices, welcoming 25 members.
In 2019, Coworking Rive-Sud opened a second 5,000 sq ft space in Brossard, including 43 workspaces. After a pandemic-related slowdown, Coworking Rive-Sud rebounded in 2022 with the acquisition of Halte 24-7 in Longueuil, totaling 17,000 sq ft of collaborative space.
In May 2024, CWRS diversified into property management and opened a third space in Saint-Hubert. Today, CWRS offers offices, meeting rooms, and registered offices, bringing together more than 100 businesses and aiming to provide accessible workspace for every remote worker on the South Shore.
Thanks to Coworking Rive-Sud, every professional, entrepreneur, or business can find an inspiring and collaborative space close to home, making the South Shore a truly dynamic and connected ecosystem.
